Notice to Mariners No. 04-2026 – breakwater construction

Virgin Islands Shipping & Maritime Authority has issued Navigation Warning – Notice to Mariners No. 04-2026, concerning the ongoing breakwater construction and temporary channel realignment at Nanny Cay Marina.

All vessel owners, managers, operators, skippers, and masters navigating in and around the Nanny Cay Marina entrance and the Sir Francis Drake Channel are requested to take note of the following:

  • A temporary realignment of the entrance channel is currently in effect to facilitate safe passage around the construction works.
  • The channel configuration will continue to evolve as construction progresses.
  • A turbidity curtain, marked by yellow buoys and lights, has been deployed on the seaward side of the breakwater.
  • The breakwater structure is marked with white lights.

Mariners are strongly encouraged to:

  • Exercise heightened caution when transiting the area
  • Maintain a safe speed and proper lookout
  • Observe all temporary markers, lights, and construction boundaries
  • Provide a wide berth to construction equipment, personnel, and floating barriers
